Kelly Dodson

Master’s level counseling practitioner

Kelly is a client or person-centered therapist, who believes that you know yourself best and that growth comes from within. Her belief is that through a genuine and positive therapeutic relationship that insight can be gained. Being able to talk through your beliefs, experiences, and struggles allows you to gather insight and work through the challenges you are facing within a safe space.

Kelly wants to create an emotional space that is safe for you to be genuine. Too many times in our daily lives we consider what others will be thinking about us if they peek behind the curtain of our lives. A safe therapeutic relationship allows you to be genuine and open with your struggles as well as your strengths to better understand how to grow towards your goals.

Kelly’s work is informed by several theoretical orientations including: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-informed therapy, mindfulness, somatic experiences, and indigenous teachings. This allows for there to be a variety of interventions and ways to explore your growth, goals, and skills that are best suited to your narrative.

Kelly has a heart for working with women across the lifespan and the different challenges that are encountered. Kelly has an interest in working with teens (15+) and young adults who are facing transitional periods of their lives as they navigate approaching educational goals, life goals and career choices. Kelly has worked with individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and a number of major life stressors. She welcomes individuals from all cultural backgrounds, religious or non-religious belief systems, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Kelly has completed her Masters degree in Professional Counseling and is on track to receive her Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credentials. She is currently supervised by Karen MountainJohnson.

Kelly is currently offering telehealth appointments.
